Releasing solenoid valves are utilized for relieving pressure from the Pressure Chamber allowing the push rod and roller assembly, on the Model RCW Valve, to move off of the clapper assembly and actuate the valve. Typically, releasing solenoid valves are normally closed valves. Once the releasing circuit is energized, the solenoid is moved to its open position allowing water to flow through the valve.
SOLENOID VALVES FOR USE WITH THE MODEL RCW FLOW CONTROL VALVEGFV-565 (.pdf)
Asco and Skinner Solenoid Valves – Solenoids: Where a releasing solenoid valve is required to relieve the pressure from an automatic water control valve in order to operate the valve they shall be specifically listed for such use. The solenoid valve is normally in the closed position and once energized, the valve moves to the open position, allowing the pressure to be relieved and the sprinkler system valve to operate. The solenoid valve must be Listed or Approved for use with a Listed releasing fire control panel, and shall be UL listed or FM approved. Solenoid Valve shall be 24 Volt DC; as manufactured by Asco or Skinner.
